Eco Friendly Kitchens Perfect for Earth Day 2024
Published on 25 Apr 2023
Remember during Lockdown One when business halted, bottlenose dolphins entered Venice canals and we saw the world recovering from harmful pollution? It’s a shame that some companies didn’t learn from that moment, ready for Earth Day 2024.
Alas, we can’t control everyone. At Masterclass, however, we’re committed to doing our bit to co-exist with nature.
Hitting 2030 Agenda targets won’t be easy. Yet, here at Masterclass, we’re so committed to cleaning up the industry with eco-friendly kitchens that we’re sharing how we’ve optimised to be a green business. That way, you can compare our practices with competitors and make informed decisions when choosing a kitchen provider.
FSC Certified Materials
What’s the first step we’ve taken to create sustainable kitchen supplies? To answer that question, we stripped back our manufacturing process to first principles:
- The brief
- Base materials
Fortunately, our brief has considered the planet a primary focus for years. We know, you see, that a green-focused team is vital for making real change.
As for the base materials, we source a huge portion of our board from FSC® and PEFC accredited forests. Waste wood materials make up 100% of our board.
Starting here, we’ve minimised pollution and energy usage without impacting our high-quality standards. It isn’t easy but it is necessary for any kitchen company that considers nature a priority.
Environmentally Friendly Processes
Once considered a pipedream, sustainable construction is at the heart of our operation. After all, using eco-friendly materials isn’t enough. Real change also requires a cleaner manufacturing process.
In the last few years, we’ve improved our recycling practices, as well as how we select the partners in our network. As a result, our manufacturing facility has achieved a zero-to-landfill goal. Plus, we use green energy to power our manufacturing facility and offices.
Energy Efficient Accessories
Many companies promote their energy-efficient manufacturing plants but create products that are far from good for the world after they leave the building. That’s not us.
Personally, we only want to promote sustainable kitchen supplies just as good as our cabinets. Thus, in terms of lighting, we only fit LED bulbs in our ranges. Together, they enable you to save energy at home, which is great for the planet and your bank account.
Sustainable Marketing Examples
In many ways, our sustainability effort transcends manufacturing. The marketing department is just as green. Indeed, minimising our print needs where possible, we now prioritise digital marketing.
If you want a print brochure, however, that’s no problem. Sourcing their paper from FSC® certified forests and using vegetable-oil-based inks, our printing partner ensures our brochures are ethically produced for those who want them and suitable for recycling.
Thanks to such measures, according to the World Land Trust (WLT), we balanced the equivalent of 17,891 kg of CO2 in our first run of the year, enabling the WLT to protect 3,417 m2 of threatened forest.
